Our Mission

Broadway Because is an organization spearheaded by Broadway actress and singer Heidi Blickenstaff, along with her husband, entertainment attorney Nicholas Rohlfing. Broadway Because is passionately focused on utilizing the power of Broadway’s diverse, creative and multi-talented community to support causes and projects that strive to make the world a better place.

We’ve been working in the Broadway community for more than 20 years.  In that time we’ve witnessed not only the extraordinary talents of this enthusiastic group of human beings, but also the ingenuity and compassion that is a common thread in most of the Broadway people we know.  We have amassed a friend  army of go-getters with strong moral compasses and a desire to lend their passion to important social causes.

By the very nature of our business, people in the Broadway community are motivated and energized DO-ERS.  Our mission is to keep our finger on the pulse of what is happening in our neighborhoods, our society, our country, and our world. From there we focus on causes and issues that inspire and move us and we put our substantial energy and creativity behind our social initiatives. From empowering the Gen Z generation to encourage their peers to stay home to slow the spread of the coronavirus in our GenZStayHome PSA Project to our GenZGoVote initiative, from our forming a bike team of Broadway stars and fans to raise tens of thousands of dollars for Multiple Sclerosis research to our Red-Carpet Re-Do initiative currently in development, Broadway Because is always striving to marshal the Broadway community to make our world a better place and bring us all together.

Broadway Because… is an opened-ended idea. A question that asks us what are we concerned about, what can we each do to help, what inspires us and moves us to action. Our response to the idea of Broadway Because is simple…because together we can make the world a better place.
